Learning - a must have process from birth to death

There's a saying called "It's never too old to learn". Yes, this is a very simple quote that I think every body knows the meaning. Learning a process of life. Since we're born, we have started to learn continuously. From crying to give signal for hungry asking for milk, change for diaper at baby's time until learning to accept the fact that we can no longer stay in this world at death time.

Most people will think that "learning" itself is just a part of life referred to education. But, in fact, every body in every aspect of life should learn continuously and set good example, cause no one is perfect. Being generous in the process of learning and teaching, will grow the knowledge of oneself. But being selfish will slow down the speed of mastering. We should remember that teaching and sharing knowledge are also process of learning.

The "learning" process include two stream. One is to know something about everything. Another is to know everything about something. This is not my quote. It's a quote by Thomas H. Huxley. But when I was a child, I have always heard about this. And that's why I always remember this.

Try to learn something about everything and everything about something.
Thomas H. Huxley (1825 - 1895)

If one choose to learn something about everything, he will become someone who seems to know about everything and also seems to be able to give out a solution about every problem. This is quite useful as we live in a world of full complexities. If you are knowledgeable, you can have your life easier for many things, cause you know how to solve the problems. But, you'll probably face a problem that is, people around you will look for you for solutions of their problems. This is good too, cause you can help them.

If one choose to learn everything about something, he will become an expert. In this digital world, where internet has become a media, learning to be an expert doesn't really have to spend a lot of money. One of my friends told me that we don't have to worry for not being able to know about something, because there's Professor Google (she means the search engine) who is always ready to help. Indeed, we save a lot of time and money from traveling away from home just for learning something or just getting an answer. We also save money if we are diligent enough to search for free online course.

And that's what about learning in the process of life in common in this world. But at last, we come to end of life and the most important part of learning. Learning to face the death and accept it. No, matter what status we are, we need to learn and accept this. About this, we should not treat this matter as something to analyze and learn like other worldly knowledge. It should be proper considered as matter of life and death. About this matter, I don't want to comment much about it, as it's too deep and profound for someone dull like me to explain. The best way to learn about this is learn from our religious teaching, putting the teaching in everyday life. Because it's a matter of one's belief. I think that's all about this article. Thanks for reading.
